One really awkward cryogenic freezing incident later, because of course a plan couldn't just work, here he is. Chris suspects whoever is behind this virus learned of Wesker's existence and has determined to unleash him on the world. Incidentally, that's where Umbrella has stored his old man. On top of that, reports of an outbreak in Boston are starting to pour in and it doesn't look like the city is going to make it through. Guess they figured Albert Wesker was too valuable an asset to dismiss. Turns out they weren't quite ready to leave behind all their old ways. He had just about let it go when Chris Redfield showed up with inside information on a secret project of Blue Umbrella's. He was angry, at first, but worked passed it. Jake believed his father was dead and gone and all chances at confronting him and getting answers were lost. The more resources and bases to his name the better.

At first figuring he is alone in this post-apocalyptic world, he sets out to complete his ultimate goal. When Wesker wakes up, he finds himself in an unknown location severely weakened and with no concept of how much time has passed. Issuing a stabilizing agent, they managed to restore his body to its unassuming human form then cryogenically froze it for future revival, but they never had the chance.
